The Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation (DBEI) have released an update informing us of a critical change in the Regulations surrounding the application process for Employment Permits in Ireland. These regulations provide for the following changes:

  • Changes to the Highly Skilled Eligible Occupations List (HSEOL) and
  • Ineligible Categories of Employment List (ICEL)
  • A copy of the signed contract of employment shall be submitted with all new and renewal Employment Permit applications


While we will keep our customers apprised of the changes to the HSEOL and ICEL as appropriate. The purpose of this update is to draw your immediate attention to the new requirement for a copy of the signed employment contract to be submitted with all new and renewal Employment Permit applications.


This change will have an impact on all active, but not yet submitted Employment Permit applications. This change in regulation comes into force today, Monday, March 26th 2018, and will be a firm requirement for the submission of all types of Employment Permit applications from this date forward.


Our team will be contacting customers to request this document for all relevant cases and we would appreciate your understanding and cooperation in obtaining this document which, before now, was not a firm requirement of the DBEI.


The Employment Contract must be fully signed. A clear PDF copy will be sufficient.
